Ah yes, the double-entendre opening sentence...
Started initially as an online journal of sorts after my wife became pregnant with our son, this infrequently updated blog morphed into overlong song-by-song podcast descriptions and random snippets about our boy and his twin sisters. Reading back, I'm sorta surprised by the amount of posts I made in that brief time. And the number of misspellings and missing words.
So for the, what, none (?) of you that we're following along, here's a brief recap of then to now. Short version: kids, economy, other.
1) I was laid off after about 17 years at Starbucks. Time to move on anyway.
2) Spent the better part of a year+ looking for work living off my severance package and unemployment. Upside: got to spend more time with my wife and kids and download a ton of music.
3) Worked about a year at a company that will not be named here for a CREATURE OF PURE EVIL where I had to pull over at least twice on my drive in to work so I could VOMIT. Seriously. Grateful to be laid off (again), but confused as I was easily a week away from quitting, being fired, or suffering a stroke. On the upside I met a great friend!
4) On the dole again for over a year.
5) Flattered to be headhunted by Krispy Kreme and asked to lead up their new coffee initiative.
6) Sold our house, packed up and moved the whole damn family to Winston-Salem, NC.
7) uh, "other"... I mean, hell, we moved from liberal Seattle where you can legally get high at your gay wedding to the South where our adopted state just constitutionally banned said people's rights to marry, so there's an adjustment, right?
So, I'm gonna start blogging again to the extent I ever blogged I guess. Got some stuff going on to talk about. Chat soon!
